Tinklebot is a cutting-edge solution for warehouse automation, addressing the challenges of busy, ever-changing environments. Using overhead cameras and AprilTag fiducial markers, it tracks robots and destinations to calculate optimal paths via breadth-first search, avoiding obstacles with custom buffer zones. A sophisticated image processing pipeline filters background noise, applies Gaussian blur, and classifies free areas versus obstacles. Powered by a mecanum-drivebase with omnidirectional movement, Tinklebot’s hardware includes ESP32 modules for wireless communication via ESP-Now protocol. The Python-based backend, leveraging OpenCV and AprilTags, integrates with C-programmed ESP32s for seamless operation. Overcoming challenges like inconsistent lighting and server-robot communication, Tinklebot’s scalable prototype can evolve into a swarm of coordinated robots, enhancing warehouse efficiency and safety.
